Kodai-ji was built as a memorial to Toyotomi Hideyoshi, a hero who unified Japan in the Warring States period during the 16th century, by Hideyoshi’s wife, Nene. Visitors entering the temple grounds find themselves enclosed in the gentle atmosphere created by the elegant gardens and buildings.
